Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response & Precautions

Wesley Mission Queensland has adopted a highly precautionary and preventative approach to the prevention, control and management of COVID-19, based on the latest and best medical advice.

Extensive infection control and hygiene management systems are in place and our Coronavirus Response Committee is receiving daily updates from public health officials.

Please be assured that we remain committed to our long-standing service to the community and to clients in need and, where possible, we will continue to operate all essential services.

Visitor rules - all Wesley Mission Queensland sites

To protect our clients, their families and staff, Wesley Mission Queensland has implemented a range of infection control procedures and restrictions across our services to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

For our other services, we ask that you do not enter a Wesley Mission Queensland site if you:

  1. are suffering from flu-like symptoms or are unwell,
  2. have been in contact with a case of COVID-19 (coronavirus),
  3. have been overseas in the past two weeks (you are required to be in self-isolation)
  4. have been in a COVID-19 hot spot in the past 14 days
  5.  are subject to a home quarantine order or awaiting a COVID-19 test result

Residential aged care communities

Unfortunately, due to a recent surge in COVID-19 cases, visitors are not permitted at the following residential aged care facilities (exceptions for end of life visits):

  • Jacobs Court aged care community
  • Kentish Court aged care community
  • Knowles Court aged care community
  • Nash Court aged care community
  • Reid Court aged care community
  • Dovetree aged care community
  • Bethesda Caring Centre

Please refer to Queensland Health’s website for more information about visiting facilities in all other regions.

 Face masks must continue to be worn and check-in procedures followed. Visits are to take place in the resident’s room or outdoors to satisfy social distancing requirements.  

 We also encourage family and friends to use phone calls, Skype and FaceTime (mobile video) to stay in touch with residents or you can click here to send a message online

 

Supported Disability Accommodation

Unfortunately, due to a recent surge in COVID-19 cases, visitors are not permitted at the following supported disability accommodation communities (exceptions for end of life visits):

  • WesleyCare Sinnamon Village
  • WesleyCare Jindalee
  • Saorsa Prestige Apartments (in Partnership with WMQ)
  • Asher House at Wynnum West

Brisbane Relief Hub

The Brisbane Relief Hub in Fortitude Valley remains open, with modified service delivery and take away options. The Wednesday night community meal is operating. Masks must be worn at all times by clients and staff. Opening times for the public: 9.30am to 12pm and 1pm to 3.30pm Monday to Friday. Closed public holidays. NDIS Services

Open and operational with modifications in place as per the Queensland Government’s recommendations. Clients and their household members are also asked to wear a mask if possible. 

 

Community Aged Care  

Open and operational, with social distancing modifications and personal protective equipment (PPE) as per the Queensland Government’s recommendations. Clients and their household members are also asked to wear a mask if possible. 

 

Home Support NDIS 

Open and operational, with social distancing modifications and personal protective equipment (PPE) as per the Queensland Government’s recommendations. Clients and their household members are also asked to wear a mask if possible. 

 

Childcare Services (Childcare Centres, Family Day Care and In-Home Childcare Services)

Child care services open to all families as per normal operating hours. Parents/carers and those aged over 12 must wear masks when on the premises. 

    

NABS

Open and operational in accordance with Government guidelines.

    

Hummingbird House

ORCA – Albany Creek and Mansfield

Open and operational in accordance with Government guidelines.  Students over the age of 12 must wear face masks, except where there are medical exemptions.   

 

Stellar Arts

Open as per normal operating hours.

Open as per normal operating hours.

 

Youth and Family Services (Logan and Robina)

All programs are operational with social distancing modifications as per the Queensland Government's recommendations. Masks are mandatory, and all clients must check in upon arrival. 

 

Youth Hubs

After School and School Holiday programs open as per normal operating hours. High school students must wear a face mask. 

 

Hopewell Hospice

Open to visitors as per normal operating hours. Face masks must continue to be worn and check-in procedures followed.

  

Living Well House Respite

Open to visitors as per normal operating hours. Face masks must continue to be worn and check-in procedures followed.

 

Respite Services Hyland House, Arana Hills, Balmoral Uniting Community Centre, Hadden day services 

Operational with screening. 

 

Respite Overnight Services Hadden 

Operational with screening.

 

Wesley Kids

Open as per normal operating hours. Online and telehealth appointments are available.  

 

Clear Breeze 

Operational with modifications as per the Queensland Government's recommendations.  

 

Mental Health Services 

Most services remain open and operational with modifications as per the Queensland Government’s recommendations.  

For those living in Brisbane South, Wesley Mission Queensland operates a Wellbeing Mental Health Service. Headspace centres 

Open as per normal operating hours 

 

HydroPool and Gym 

Open for booked one-on-one therapy sessions. 

 

Health and Wellbeing 

All therapy with clinicians and AHAs will continue across all locations for all client types with vigilant precautions in place.

 

Community Transport Services 

Restricted transport - essential services and in line with government advice.

 

Home Assist 

Operational with modifications as per the Queensland Government's recommendations.  

 

Elorac Place

Open and operational.
