Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response & Precautions

Wesley Mission Queensland has adopted a highly precautionary and preventative approach to the prevention, control and management of COVID-19, based on the latest and best medical advice.

Extensive infection control and hygiene management systems are in place and our Coronavirus Response Committee is receiving daily updates from public health officials.

Please be assured that we remain committed to our long-standing service to the community and to clients in need and, where possible, we will continue to operate all essential services.

Visitor rules - all Wesley Mission Queensland sites

To protect our clients, their families and staff, Wesley Mission Queensland has implemented a range of infection control procedures and restrictions across our services to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

We ask that you do not enter a Wesley Mission Queensland site if you:

  1. are suffering from flu-like symptoms or are unwell,
  2. have been in contact with a case of COVID-19 (coronavirus),
  3. have been overseas in the past two weeks (you are required to be in self-isolation)
  4. have been in a COVID-19 hot spot or Victoria in the past 14 days

Residential aged care communities

Visitors are welcome at all WMQ residential aged care communities, with the following conditions:

  • Residents can have a maximum of two visitors at one time (no time limit on the visit or the number of visitors in one day)
  • Visits can occur between 9am and 4pm, 7 days a week
  • Visits must take place in the resident’s room or garden areas
  • Visitors will be required to sign-in and fill out the health questionnaire upon arrival, show proof of flu vaccination and have their temperature checked.

While there are currently NO cases of COVID-19 at any Wesley Mission Queensland service or facility, we are taking a highly precautionary approach to safeguard residents and staff.

NDIS Services

There have been some changes to our prices and cancellation policy due to COVID-19. Please see this update for full details.


In Home Care – Home support  

Open and operational, with social distancing modifications as per the Federal Government’s recommendations.

Childcare Services (Childcare Centres, Family Day Care and In-Home Childcare Services)

All remain open and operational.

Emergency Relief

Open but with modified service delivery. Opening times for the public: 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm Monday to Friday.


Hummingbird House

Hummingbird House is working closely with Queensland Health in monitoring the current situation with respect to COVID-19.

Our priority is to ensure the safety of our guests, families and team, and every decision we make in the coming days, weeks and months will be guided by this.

Hummingbird House is currently restricting the number of people entering the house. If you or your child have recently visited or plan to visit us and develop a fever, cough or flu like symptoms, please notify us immediately and do not visit the House. We also ask that you don’t visit the House if you have travelled overseas or interstate in the past 14 days or had contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected of having coronavirus.

Supported Disability Accommodation 

All communities are now accepting visitors.

The health and wellbeing of residents, families and staff is our priority.

Youth and Family Services (Logan and Robina)

All programs are operational  with social distancing modifications as per Federal Governments recommendations. Limitations in place for transport and face to face contact. 


Youth Hubs

After School and School Holiday programs open with social distancing modifications as per Federal Governments recommendations.


Hopewell Hospice

Open and operational, with social distancing modifications as per the Federal Government’s recommendations.  


Respite Services Hyland House, Arana Hills, Balmoral Uniting Community Centre, Hadden day services 

Open and operational with COVID-19 Safe Plan in place.


Respite Overnight Services Hadden 

Operational with screening.


Paradise Kids 

Services are suspended.

Group 61  

Group61 is Wesley Mission Queensland’s befriending program for those with mental health issues and whose main mode of practice is face to face catch ups and group activities.

In response to the latest COVID19 update, Brisbane members, where possible are to revert to virtual catch ups. This will be regularly reviewed. Where it is determined that a face to face catch up is required, COVID19 safe practices are in place.

Operational with modifications as per government advice. 


Mental Health Services 

Most services remain open and operational. 

For those living in Brisbane South, Wesley Mission Queensland operates a Wellbeing Mental Health Service. If you are feeling isolated or unsure during the COVID-19 health crisis please reach out and connect. We are offering free telephone consultations for people living in the Brisbane South region, call 3717 7006 to book an appointment with one of our Wellbeing Consultants today.


Headspace centres 

Currently open.


HydroPool and Gym 

Closed to the public – open for booked one on one therapy sessions. 


Health and Wellbeing 

All therapy with clinicians and AHAs will continue across all locations for all client types with vigilant precautions in place.


Community Transport Services 

Restricted transport - essential services and in line with government advice.


Home Assist 

Operational with modifications as per government advice.  


Elorac Place

Services suspended.
