Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response & Precautions



Wesley Mission Queensland has adopted a highly precautionary and preventative approach to the prevention, control and management of COVID-19, based on the latest and best medical advice.

Extensive infection control and hygiene management systems are in place and our Coronavirus Response Committee is receiving daily updates from public health officials.

Please be assured that we remain committed to our long-standing service to the community and to clients in need and, where possible, we will continue to operate all essential services.

Visitor rules

To protect our clients, their families and staff, Wesley Mission Queensland has implemented a range of restrictions to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

We ask that you do not enter a Wesley Mission Queensland site if you:

  1. are suffering from flu-like symptoms or are unwell,
  2. have been in contact with a case of COVID-19 (coronavirus),
  3. have been overseas in the past two weeks (you are required to be in self-isolation)
  4. have been interstate in the past two weeks (you are required to be in self-isolation).

 Residential aged care communities

The health and wellbeing of residents and staff is our priority. Visitors have once again been welcomed back to our homes and we are following all guidelines and legislation as instructed by the Queensland Government.

All of our aged care communities have increased their infection control and hygiene procedures and visitors are asked to monitor their own health closely and only visit if they are well.

We kindly ask you do not enter if you: 

  1. are unwell or anyone in your household is unwell with flu-like symptoms
  2. have been in contact with a case of COVID-19 (coronavirus)
  3. have been overseas in the past two weeks
  4. have been interstate in the past two weeks
  5. have had close contact with someone who has been asked to self-isolate in the last 14 days
  6. have visited a hot spot area for COVID-19 in the past 14 days
  7. have not had a 2020 influenza vaccination

Please contact the aged care community direct for visiting hours and conditions of entry. We also encourage family and friends to use Skype and Facetime (mobile video) to stay in touch with residents or you can click here to send a message online.


 NDIS Services

There have been some changes to our prices and cancellation policy due to COVID-19. Please see this update for full details.

Open but with modified service delivery. Opening times for the public: 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm Monday to Friday.


 Hummingbird House

Naturally, the health and wellbeing of our children and families is paramount. We have therefore had to make some recent decisions which are noted below

  1. A very reluctant decision is to suspend our volunteers in trying to reduce the foot traffic through the house   
  2. Staff being encouraged to work away from the main house as much as they can 
  3. The planned film premier of Mulan is cancelled

Whilst they remain open and operational there are restrictions, such as:

  • Visitors are to ensure that they follow the exclusion criteria for Covid19 
  • We are restricting external/community activities.


 Youth and Family Services (Logan and Robina)

Most services remain open and operational, please refer any queries to the service. 

  • Eagleby Family Centre - Services suspended


 Youth Hubs

After school programs – remain open. School holiday programs have been cancelled.


 Hopewell Hospice

Open and operational, with social distancing modifications as per the Federal Government’s recommendations.  


 Respite Services Hyland House, Arana Hills, Balmoral Uniting Community Centre, Hadden day services 

Respite day services are closed to ‘in centre’ respite.

Group transport has been suspended.

Allied Health Service will continue by appointment only.


 Respite Overnight Services Hadden 

Operational with screening.


 Paradise Kids 

Services are suspended.

Telephone support only.


 Group 61  

Group61 is WMQs befriending programme for those with mental health issues and whose main mode of practise is face to face catch ups and group activities.

In line with current advice, we have now cancelled all face to face group events and are currently working to find alternative solutions to ensure members do not become isolated and lonely. This could include virtual activities and discussion for those with online access. Alternative arrangements for those not able to access online services is also being considered.


 Clear Breeze 

Operational with modifications as per government advice. 


 Mental Health Services 

Most services remain open and operational. 

For those living in Brisbane South, Wesley Mission Queensland operates a Wellbeing Mental Health Service. If you are feeling isolated or unsure during the COVID-19 health crisis please reach out and connect. We are offering free telephone consultations for people living in the Brisbane South region, call 3717 7006 to book an appointment with one of our Wellbeing Consultants today.


 Headspace centres 

Currently open.


 HydroPool and Gym 

Closed to the public – open for booked one on one therapy sessions. 


 Health and Wellbeing 

Based on the most recent service restrictions, we will be closing the hydrotherapy pool and gym to the public and ceasing all group therapy with immediate effect.

All therapy with clinicians and AHAs will continue across all locations for all client types with vigilante precautions in place.

We will be systematically contacting all clients who are booked into our groups programs to offer them 1 on 1 appointments either face to face or over the phone.


 Community Transport Services 

Restricted transport - essential services and in line with government advice.


 Home Assist 

Operational with modifications as per government advice.  


 Elorac Place

Services suspended. 


 Art from the Margins

While our facilities are closed, we have launched of our new online shop, you can now view the current exhibition and purchase artworks as well as our great range of merchandise including bookmarks, magnets and notepads featuring our AFTM artists artworks.

We are providing workshops and creative ideas via our Facebook group AFTM Art Workshops @ Home, please feel free to join. AFTM is currently exploring options for online delivery of programs with Zoom.
