Lifestyle and community

Moving into a residential aged care community doesn’t mean you have to give up your hobbies and interests. At Wesley Mission Queensland, we believe that it’s important to maintain your existing connections with family and friends and to remain active and social when joining a nursing home.

Leisure programs to reflect your passions

We have leisure and lifestyle coordinators at all our aged care communities whose role is to provide social and recreational events for everyone to enjoy. We understand your need to participate in meaningful experiences that will improve your spiritual and emotional wellbeing. Whatever your passions are, our residential aged care home will shape our leisure and wellness programs to reflect them.

The decision to participate is always yours – you choose what you want to do, as often as you like.

Some activities you may find on your social calendar include:

  • Music concerts and performances
  • Movie nights
  • Art classes
  • Themed days
  • Exercise classes
  • Regular bus outings
  • Social gatherings
  • Clubs that encourage your independence, friendships, sense of purpose and wellbeing; for instance, men's shed, ladies' tea, or gardening group
  • Visits from local groups, schools or childcare centres
  • Technology-based activities (brain trainers, apps etc.)
