Funding and payments

The CHSP can assist with short-term planned respite care services for eligible older Australians. This allows carers to take a break from their usual caring responsibilities. CHSP can fund:

  • In-home day and overnight respite (flexible respite)
  • Cottage overnight respite
  • Centre-based respite, including residential respite

How much does it cost?

Cost is based on your support needs. If you are eligible, you’re expected to pay a small co-contribution to the cost of your care.  Call us on 1800 448 448 and we’ll talk you through all respite care costs, fees and funding options.

How long will it take to access respite care?

First you will need to be assessed. After that it will depend on the availability of services in your area. Check if you meet the requirements for an assessment or if you are ready, apply for an assessment now.

HCP are designed to assist if you have more complex care needs that go beyond what the Commonwealth Home Support Programme can provide. While the primary focus of HCPs is on supporting individuals with their daily living needs, they can also be used to access respite care services.

Respite care can be supplied under a home care package if the need for respite care is identified in the client’s care plan and the supply of respite services can be achieved within the home care package budget.

With WMQ as your HCP provider, you can expect:

  • A dedicated care leader who will coordinate all your care needs
  • An individual care plan tailored to your needs
  • Regular review of your plan to ensure it continues to meet your needs
  • Support and guidance to make the most of your Home Care Package funding

There are four levels of Home Care Packages, designed to support people with different care needs:

  • Home care level 1 – to support people with basic care needs
  • Home care level 2 – to support people with low-level care needs
  • Home care level 3 – to support people with intermediate care needs
  • Home care level 4 – to support people with high care needs

How much does it cost?

With a Home Care Package there are no out-of-pocket costs unless you are assessed as being required to pay a Government Income Tested Fee or you choose to purchase extra services.

WMQ has no hidden fees. We will support you to get the best value from your Home Care Package:

  • No charge to set up services
  • No basic daily fee

No charge for our Care Workers to travel to you.
