Christmas 2019 has come and gone but the impact created by those that supported the Red Bag Appeal, has been closely felt by families that needed a helping hand.

We received over 3,500 Red Bags filled with Christmas goodies. That’s 400 more Red Bags than last year and we owe it to you – the organisations, businesses, churches and individuals in the community.

Not only that but we distributed over 1,500 new toys to children throughout our community services including, Brisbane Relief Hub, Elorac Place, Eagleby Family Services and the Robina Youth and Parenting Hub.

Each year our supporters, sponsors and volunteers help the Red Bag Appeal to succeed and go above and beyond in making a difference in the lives of Queenslanders.

  • We welcomed 57 new corporate and individual supporters
  • 111 people donated their time from 8 participating corporate organisations to repack and sort through all the bags before distribution
  • 170 volunteers donated 1337 hours to wrap over 5,305 presents at Chermside Westfield and raised over $26,000 for Brisbane Relief Hub.

Additionally our regular supporters gave financially to the Appeal through online or posted donations and 15 supporters raised significant funds through our 500Food Campaign with 300 guests supporting our Red Gala.

Thank you to our regular supporters and our 57 new corporate and individual supporters, we couldn’t have reached our goals without you all.

Paul Reis, Wesley Mission Queensland’s Fundraising General Manager, said he’s so thankful for the community’s contribution and generosity for the Red Bag Appeal.

“We are very grateful for the support of so many in our community through the Red Bag Appeal giving us the opportunity to reach out to extend joy and hope at Christmas for those doing it tough,” says Paul.

Again, a big thank you for the support, love and commitment that the community and our supporters have shown over the holiday season. We look forward to the 2020 Red Bag Appeal.
