Our aged care respite service provides planned, emergency and short-term care and support to older people in the community living with high care needs and their carers. Respite allows carers to take a break knowing their loved one is being looked after in a safe, secure environment by qualified care staff.

 You can access respite for yourself or a loved one if you are:

  • Planning a holiday
  • Needing a break from looking after a loved one
  • Recovering from illness, injury or hospitalisation.

 Types of respite

Our respite services are available to clients who have completed a My Aged Care Assessment (ACAT) and include:

  • Emergency respite – available at our aged care communities in ChermsideSinnamon ParkGeebungBray Park and Corinda, subject to availability. 
  • Planned respite - available at most of our communities.  Bookings are accepted up to three months in advance and are subject to availability. Respite services must be booked for a minimum of two weeks.
  • In-home respite – services provided in your own home
  • Day respite – available in our centres at Sinnamon Park (Fulton Wellbeing Centre and Hadden Place), Balmoral,  Arana Hills
  • Overnight respite – provided at our Hadden Place respite centre at Sinnamon Village 

 Our aged care respite service provides:

  • accommodation in a secure environment
  • personal care
  • all meals
  • exercise programs
  • pet therapy, and
  • a calendar of activities, including indoor bowls, music concerts and craft groups.

How much does respite cost?

If you have a current Aged Care Assessment or Aged Care Client Record (ACCR), the cost is subsidised by the government. You can also privately fund respite services.

As everyone’s circumstances are different, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your requirements and potential costs.

How much respite can I access per year?

With a current ACCR, subsidised respite is available for up to nine weeks per year.

Privately-funded respite is unlimited but dependant on availability at the residence.
