Wellbeing Mental Health Service

About
Wesley Mission Queensland’s Wellbeing Mental Health Service provides free, short-term therapeutic support (usually around 4-6 sessions), in line with individual goals for people living in the Brisbane south region.

The program may benefit those in areas such as:

  • managing stress and anxiety
  • building self-confidence and coping skills
  • support for grief, trauma or loss
  • accessing support to address issues with alcohol and other drugs, gambling, or other addictions
  • caring for someone with a mental health concern.

Your session with a Wellbeing Consultant may include:

  • peer support and guidance
  • coaching
  • education
  • assistance with developing practical support, coping strategies and life skills.

Wellbeing Consultants are also able to help you navigate your mental health care journey and connect you with other local supports to assist with your goals.

The Wellbeing Mental Health Service is a Brisbane South PHN commissioned mental health service all of which share a common set of core principles: compassionate practice, human rights focus, consumer defined and supporter empowering, equity of access and cultural respect and capability. These principles focus on the person at the centre, surrounded by natural and broader community supports.

FAQs

What does the Wellbeing Mental Health Service cost?

The program is completely free. You do not need a medicare card to access this service.

What are the wait times like?

The program aims to have no waitlist to access the service. However, at times you may need to leave a message with your Wellbeing Consultant, and you may experience small queues at times if you choose to drop-in to a centre. Please keep in mind that our program does not operate to support crisis or emergency situations. If you feel that your matter is urgent, or if you are experiencing a mental health crisis please consider these options:

Lifeline Australia – 13 11 14
Suicide Call back service – 1300 659 467
If you are in immediate danger, call emergency services on 000.

Can I access this service alongside other services?

Yes, as long as the service you are already receiving is not the same as what is offered under this program. For example you can access Psychological Therapies at the same time as the Wellbeing Mental Health Service as each service offers support in different ways.

What is a mental health care plan and do I need one?

A mental health care plan is a plan your doctor writes with you about treating a mental health condition. It helps you to access eligible allied health professionals like psychologists, social workers or occupational therapists. You do not need a mental health care plan to access the Wellbeing Mental Health Service.

We currently have face-to-face and phone sessions available by appointment only. Call our team on 3717 7006 to make an appointment or find out more.
