General Managers Update

Published Monday 1 June 2020

Some good news for our AFTM artists, partners and supporters is that we are now back in the AFTM building in Fortitude Valley and our onsite delivery of exhibitions has resumed! Our 2020 Emerging Artists Exhibition, Survival. Balance. Growth. starts this week with an online Zoom opening event. We’d love you to join in on the In Conversation.

While our workshops will be delivered remotely until the end of Term 2, we do hope to have our onsite Studio program up and running for Term 3. AFTM is also currently looking at options for continuing Zoom workshops for self-isolating and older artists as the COVID-19 restrictions ease.

From 1 June, entries to our 2020 AFTM Queensland Outsider Art Awards are officially open! In an exciting new step, AFTM has opened our Brisbane Awards to artists living with adversity and disabilities across regional Queensland.

In response to the pandemic, the Awards will now take place as a digital online art prize, with a Finalists Exhibition of prize winners and commended artworks at AFTM Gallery & Studios in late September.  Check out our website for online entry forms and further information!

As we head into winter, a reminder to all to remain vigilant, maintain COVID-19 social distancing, and hand and respiratory hygiene. Together we can get through this!
