Hummingbird House is dedicated to caring for Queensland children with a life-limiting condition and their families, prioritising their health, wellbeing, and safety at all times.
Due to limited doctor availability over the Christmas and New Year period, the difficult decision was made to bring forward our annual Christmas closure to Friday 19 December.
We are committed to reopening on 12 January 2026. Affected families have been our priority and we have worked collaboratively with the Paediatric Palliative Care Service in the Queensland Children’s Hospital to ensure patients and staff are supported with continuity of care.
We understand this temporary closure has been disappointing for families, and we are sorry for any disruption it has caused. Wesley Mission Queensland’s CEO and Board Chair are meeting with families to listen and outline how we move forward together.
Hummingbird House remains a core service of Wesley Mission Queensland, and our commitment to providing specialised paediatric palliative care to children and families across Queensland has not changed.
