Art therapy services can help you to improve your individual mental and emotional wellbeing.

Why should you participate in art therapy?

Benefits of art therapy include:

  • The freedom to be creative, to ‘let go’ and to express emotions non-verbally
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Opportunities to engage socially with others interaction through group art therapy workshops.

We support a diverse range of people through art therapy, including:

  • Older people
  • People living with a mental illness or disability
  • Children
  • People experiencing hardship
How can you access art therapy services?

Art therapy is built into a number of Wesley Mission Queensland's services and programs including:

  • Art from the Margins – a program that supports the creative development of people living with homelessness, disability, mental illness, disadvantage and/or social isolation.
  • Emergency Relief Hub – art therapy workshops are run through this Fortitude Valley location to encourage social and creative connection and expression in a safe environment.
  • Residential Aged Care – our residential aged care communities incorporate art therapy activities into their leisure and lifestyle calendars to encourage happiness, creativity and wellbeing.
  • Respite services – art therapy is included in the activity programs at some of our respite centres – please contact us to find out which centres offer art therapy.
  • Child Care Services - we encourage creativity and exploration through art in our child care centres
