Community Meal

Community Meal is a free dinner service offered in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley for people doing it tough.

Community Meal in Fortitude Valley

Since 2005, Community Meal has been serving people facing times of hardship. It runs each Wednesday night  from 7pm at the Brisbane Relief Hub in Fortitude Valley.

Between 70 - 150 people in need are provided a vital lifeline of:

  • A free hot three-course meal, consisting of a soup, main course and dessert
  • Drinks including tea, coffee and milo
  • An opportunity to socialise with others

The inclusive nature of the meal is a unique drawcard for diners, staff and volunteers with everyone encouraged to come along, sit down and eat together. It’s an opportunity for people to engage with others, eat some healthy food and feel part of the wider Brisbane community.

To put together the weekly meal, food is supplied by OzHarvest and Foodbank and is supplemented by resources from Wesley Mission Queensland.

Community Meal is an initiative of the Albert Street Uniting Church
