Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Red Rose Foundation, joining the powerful and symbolic Red Bench Project. As part of this initiative, we have unveiled two Red Benches at our Chermside and Sinnamon Village precincts, representing our visible and lasting commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by family and domestic violence.

These benches are not just public fixtures, they are symbols of awareness, action, and solidarity. They stand as a reminder that domestic violence impacts not only homes, but also workplaces, friendships, and the wider community. By installing Red Benches, we aim to start conversations, break the silence, and encourage everyone to look closer, ask questions, and offer support when something doesn’t feel right.

This initiative is part of WMQ’s broader commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive and supportive community, both within our organisation and beyond.

But awareness is only the first step.

In the coming weeks, we will also be launching training for our staff to help recognise the signs of domestic violence and learn how to respond safely and appropriately. Every team member will have access to practical tools, resources, and support systems that empower them to make a real difference in someone’s life.

We believe respect, compassion, and inclusion are not just words, they are values that should guide our actions every day. By taking part in the Red Bench Project, we are turning those values into meaningful steps toward change.

The Red Bench is more than a seat. It is a conversation starter, a symbol of hope, and a call to action. We invite everyone in our community, to join us in taking a stand. Together, we can change the ending.
