Youth support services

Services in Logan and at the Gold Coast for young people, including youth hubs, school holiday programs and practical and emotional support to develop and nurture relationships, find housing, complete school or get a job. We also provide support for LGBTIQAP+ youth at the Gold Coast through our Expanded Horizons program.

Logan Youth Support Services

The Youth Support Program encourages vulnerable young people aged 12-21 years in the Logan area to take part in activities and services that develop emotional, social and physical wellbeing and promote community engagement.
The activities and workshops offered support participants to:

  • Develop and nurture healthy relationships in a safe environment
  • Remain living in, or find stable accommodation
  • Complete school work
  • Secure employment by assisting with resume writing and job applications
  • Have confidential discussions with relevant professionals.
  • Homelessness
  • Disengaging from school, education and/or employment
  • Disconnecting from their family, community or support network
  • Harm, including self-injury. 
Program hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. 

Eagleby Neighbourhood Centre is open to the public from Monday – Friday, 9am to 4pm.

The Eagleby Neighbourhood Centre is an inviting and functional space used for family programs and like-minded community groups.

Gold Coast Youth Support Services

Free youth holiday program

The Youth Support Services program operates on the Gold Coast for young people aged 12-21 years. It is a free and voluntary and service that provides practical and emotional support with issues such as: 

  • Family relationships and community connections
  • School and education
  • Finding employment or training opportunities
  • Homelessness and harm.

The Youth Support Worker will work alongside you to identify areas you would like to improve and support you to make positive changes, increase your wellbeing and develop practical skills that you can use to better manage your life. The Youth Support Worker will come to you and respect your rights to privacy and confidentiality and acknowledges the importance of family and community. 

Youth Support Services operates out of Robina Service Hub, Eagleby Neighbourhood Centre and YHES House.

YHES House

YHES House is a safe, youth-friendly community hub that provides a non-judgemental space where young people are welcomed, listened to, and respected. Our services are available either through our centre or at outreach points.

Gold Coast Youth Hubs

The Gold Coast Youth Hubs provide supported spaces for young people aged 12-18 years to partake in activities and  with friends. All services are free. Young people are asked to bring their own lunch. 

We offer a range of cultural, artistic, recreational and educational activities, including:

  • Social groups
  • Cooking classes
  • Homework help
  • Resume guidance
  • Written driving test support.

 

The Centres are run by Wesley Mission Queensland from the City of Gold Coast buildings.

 

Pacific Pines Community Hub

School holiday programs

The Gold Coast Youth Hubs offer a range of free school holiday activities for young people aged 12-17 years.

The programs provide a safe space to enjoy the school holidays and meet new friends, while giving parents peace of mind that their child is being looked after in a supported environment.

All programs are device-free in favour of hands on activities. 

 Activities include:

  • Cooking classes
  • Art workshops
  • Sporting games including dodge ball, swimming, soccer
  • Movies
  • Craft activities.

 

The purpose of these activities is to help young people:

  • Create friendships and meet new people
  • Spend time in a safe and supported space
  • Provide an opportunity to learn new skills
  • Create a memorable and enjoyable holiday experience.

 

Twice a year, the Hubs gather together to partake in the Winter and Summer Olympics, a day of friendly competition. Through these events, youth are able to make new friends from across the Gold Coast.  Additional events held throughout the year include celebrations to promote National Youth Week.

Youth at Risk Alliance

YARA provides coordinated and integrated case planning for children unborn to 18 years with complex needs, and their families through its Complex Needs Assessment Panels (CNAP).

The CNAPs comprise of senior members from a range of government and non-government agencies working collaboratively to support vulnerable children and young people on the Gold Coast and in Beenleigh.

The children and young people referred to the Program must exhibit multiple and complex needs, be at serious risk of harm and require intervention from two or more services.  Program participation is organised through referrals.
