I’ve been living here at Emmaus Village for about 13 years now. It was hard at first; big changes like this in life usually are, but I settled in and I know that this is the best place for me. It gives both me and my family peace of mind, to know that I have people around to care for me whenever I need anything.

The carers are wonderful. We have quite a multicultural little family here at Emmaus Village, and a lot of the carers treat me like I’m their own grandma. They are always coming to me, telling me about their lives and asking for my advice. It’s a lovely feeling, to think that I can share my knowledge and wisdom that I’ve gathered over the years.

I’m an avid knitter and I love gardening. If I’m not making a new blanket or a little outfit for a new (great!) grandchild, I’m usually out tending to my little garden. And if I’m not there, I’m usually out indulging in some retail therapy with my family - and who doesn’t love a bit of that!

I really believe that life is what you make it and that we never stop learning. There’s always so much happening here - who knows what I’ll learn next?
