Black Dog, Blue Butterflies brings together artists living with mental illness, both directly and indirectly.
The exhibition’s title draws from the well-known euphemisms for depression ‘the black dog’ and anxiety, ‘butterflies’. For this exhibition, artists were invited to share their experiences of mental illness. Here, Artists ignore the stigmatisation of mental illness and use their practice as a tool to communicate and promote awareness.
Exhibition developed by Moreton Bay Regional Council.
AFTM, a creative initiative of Wesley Mission Queensland, supports, exhibits and promotes the work of artists living with adversity, mental health issues, physical or intellectual disabilities, or experiencing homelessness and social isolation.
