Exploring the possibilities of photography and new mixed media within each artist’s individual practices, Catching Light presents a diverse look into the capabilities of photographic and new media art.
The AFTM Foto Group is a collective of ten Outsider Artists who meet regularly at AFTM Gallery & Studios to refine and explore their art making practices. The group was joined by the first Inspired AIR mentors, VERGE Collective who facilitated workshops on photographic techniques and artwork selection, with a focus on building professional artistic skills.
AFTM Foto Group artists include: Charles Charalambous, Levi DiBall, Magda Labuda, Margarita Iakovleva, Neil Bates, Robert Walmsley-Evans, Wendy Hewton, Tamika Peterson, Pierre Crowl and Colleen Stevenson.
VERGE Collective is an all-female collective formed by six photography and new media artists currently living and working in Brisbane and surrounds. The collective aims to initiate and implement artistic and professional development opportunities tailored to support its female members who manage work and family commitments as they seek to consolidate their artistic practices. VERGE Collective artists are Vanessa Bertagnole, Julia Scott Green, Christine Ko, Lisa Kurtz, Tamara Whyte and Emma Wright
