Understanding the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)

The Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS) provides fee assistance to make child care more affordable for families. Wesley Mission Queensland is an Approved Provider of the Child Care Subsidy for our Long Day Care centres, Family Day Care and In-Home Child Care services.

What percentage of the CCS am I entitled to?

The subsidy amount you’re entitled to is determined by three factors:

  1. How much ‘work-related’ activity you and your partner undertake each fortnight. This includes paid work, volunteering and study. It’s important to note – the Government will ease the activity test until 4 October 2020 to support eligible families whose employment is impacted as a result of COVID-19
  2. Your total combined family income
  3. The service type – whether you’re choosing Centre-Based Care, Family Day Care or In-Home Child Care.

You must also meet the CCS Eligibility requirements determined by Centrelink. Your individual CCS Subsidy amount is allocated by Centrelink. For more information, including the annual subsidy cap and how to apply, please visit Services Australia.
