Nancy Spencer has extensive social policy and legislative experience having worked in range of agencies across Queensland Government before joining the Policy Innovation Hub at Griffith University in 2019.
With the Policy Innovation Hub, Nancy works with all levels of government, industry and community organisations to develop and enhance multi-disciplinary policy positions addressing implementation challenges as well as create linkages between university staff and public servants.
Nancy has qualifications in public administration and in statistics, and is experienced in strategy development, evaluation, and project management including customer and community consultation, risk management and reporting.
Nancy has expertise and experience in a diverse range of data, policies, legislation and resource allocation; and agencies’ funding, systems and processes. Currently Nancy is responding to the need to improve outcomes for people with a disability, disaster decision making and resilience, climate risk management and energy policy. She is partner on a number of research projects activating community-led employment creation opportunities for older women, those with mental illness and young carers.
Outside work, Nancy is a Board member for Wesley Mission Queensland and actively volunteers with other not-for-profits to support their strategic planning and develop sustainable business strategies.
