Nancy Spencer, WMQ board member

Nancy Spencer has extensive social policy and legislative experience having worked in range of agencies across Queensland Government before joining Griffith University's Business School in 2019.

 

Nancy works with all levels of government, industry and community organisations to provide specialist governance and integrity advice, develop and enhance multi-disciplinary policy positions with a focus on addressing implementation challenges for measurable outcomes.

Nancy has qualifications in public administration and in statistics and is an experienced board member with skills in strategy development, evaluation, risk management and project management including change management, customer engagement and community consultation.

Nancy has expertise and experience in a diverse range of data across allied health, crime statistics, community development and energy; resource allocation models; and agencies’ funding, systems and processes.

Currently Nancy actively works to improve the social, economic and resilience outcomes for communities with a focus on decision making, crisis management, climate risk management and energy policy. She is partner on a number of research projects activating community-led employment creation opportunities for older women, those with mental illness and young carers and community resilience.

Outside work, Nancy actively volunteers with the Queensland Carers Advisory Council, the Uniting Church and with other not-for-profits to develop sustainable business strategies.
